Job Scope:As an R&D Manager you will be responsible to lead and develop the R&D team to drive innovation, deliver new product developments, and manage project prioritization, while ensuring alignment with global, regional, and cluster objectives. This role will be responsible for managing cross-functional collaboration, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and overseeing the department's budget. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to balance project execution with people development.

Lead R&D Projects:

• Oversee and manage all research and development activities, ensuring that projects are executed effectively from concept to completion.
• Setting project goals, managing timelines, allocating resources, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
• Lead the team to effectively manage the R&D projects.
• Gather any legal documents, laws, regulations, and patents, necessary for determining the project's feasibility.
• Communicate with the top management to verify the project's priority and ensure that the project is delivered on time based on the standard or requirement.

Product Development:

• Drive the innovation and development of new products in line with company strategy and market needs.
• Ensure that product development aligns with customer expectations, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness.

New Products Development (NPD): Introduction & Launch:

• Spearhead the development, testing, and launch of new products.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Production teams to introduce products to market efficiently.
• Overseeing product testing, packaging, marketing material, and ensuring alignment with brand standards.
• Develop new product technologies to drive innovation and improve production efficiency.

Project Management for New Products:

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of new product development projects, from ideation through to commercialization.
• Create detailed project plans, set milestones, and monitor progress, ensuring timely delivery while managing risks and changes. Provide updates to key stakeholders.

Coordination with Meyer Global Companies:

• Serve as the key liaison for new product coordination between Meyer's global companies, ensuring seamless collaboration on product development.

Technology & Innovation:

• Identify and apply new technologies to enhance product offerings and processes.
• Regularly review advancements in industry technology and assess their application for improving company products.
• Communicate with the legal team to ensure that the created technology is feasible for manufacturing & marketing.
• Lead the team in designing and developing innovative technologies. Oversee the implementation of these technologies into products, ensuring alignment with the requirements and specifications provided by key stakeholders, such as the Business Development (BD) team and top management.

Improvement:

• Implement and drive continuous improvement activities throughout the plant.
• Evaluate work processes to identify potential improvements.
• Set up processes and systems to create a foundation for long-term improvement.

Management/Leadership/Culture:

• Identify training and development needs for the division.
• Promote, discipline and terminate employees as needed.
• Minimize employee turnover rate.

Perform other tasks as assigned:

• Regular updates on project status, challenges, and performance metrics should be communicated via the agreed communication methods
• Gather business intelligence (patent, technology, and competitive intelligence) to identify new scientific trends and provide suggestions to the BD team.
• Participate in benchmarking and testing competitive products to gain relevant information that can be applied to product specifications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Material Science, or related fields.

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in research and development, with at least 5 years in a managerial position.

• Experience in product innovation, project management, and leading cross-functional teams is essential.

• Industry experience in manufacturing, consumer goods, or technology-based companies is preferred.

• Experience working with global teams and coordinating across international business units.

• Always pursue new technologies and knowledge to be able to utilize the technologies or some technique with the R&D project.

• Excellent communication skills with all levels, from top management to shop floor workers, plus marketing arms, vendors, and customers.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Cantonese is an advantage.

• Proficiency in data analysis, prototyping, and product testing and development methodologies.

Working Hours: MON - FRI 08.00 AM - 06.00 PM
