Duties and Responsibilities
The UN Secretary-General launched on 1 January 2019 a bold and new global reform which repositioned the UN Development System to deliver more effectively and efficiently with the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. As part of this reform, UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), under the leadership of an empowered and independent UN Resident Coordinator- the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System and Representative of the UN Secretary-General at country level- support countries in the achievement of their development priorities and the attainment of the SDGs. This position is located in the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Thailand. The internship is UNPAID and full-time for the duration of either a minimum internship period of 3- 6 months of full-time engagement, and 4 months for part-time. Interns work at least 35 hours per week/ 5 days a week for full-time or 2.5 days a week for part-time internship, reporting for work in the office with the possibility of remote work arrangements. Under the supervision of the RCO team and the Partnership and Development Finance Officer, the intern will: - Assist in drafting, reviewing, and preparing official documents, briefs, and correspondence. - Develop and design presentations and supporting materials for RCO meetings and external engagements. - Prepare and finalize minutes, summaries, and reports from conferences, meetings, and consultations. - Support the planning and organization of RCO events, workshops, and other activities. - Contribute to social media and communications outreach, including drafting content and supporting digital engagement. - Provide support to other tasks and ad hoc assignments as relevant to the work of the RCO.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter and backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Fluency in Thai is an advantage.
