OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
BACKGROUND
The Asia-Pacific Regional GCED Network was launched in May 2018 Jakarta, Indonesia, hereinafter referred to as the GCED Network. The goal of the GCED Network is to bring various organisations committed to the realization of GCED towards Education 2030. The GCED Network synergies the regional effort from partners who have been active in GCED related programmes and activities. It also creates opportunities for GCED Network members and the stakeholders to gather and exchange information and research, discuss challenges and identify gaps of GCED promotion, suggest possible solutions, provide expertise, and facilitate GCED related activities with the help among the network members.
Under the framework of the Asia-Pacific Regional GCED Network, the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) and UNESCO Bangkok have been collaborating to bring together GCED stakeholders (e.g. education authorities, teaching professionals and research institutes) to discuss various topics related to GCED (i.e. policy, capacity building, learning materials, research, advocacy) and to carry out activities (e.g. research on GCED) to inform policy and practice in the Asia and Pacific region.
To better strengthen GCED stakeholders' capacity building, UNESCO Bangkok and APCEIU developed a guidebook in 2020— Understanding GCED in Asia-Pacific: A How-to Guide for 'Taking It Local' . This guidebook aims to guide organisations/institutions/individuals in designing and carrying out workshops on GCED, targeting both policymakers and teachers/educators with suggested approaches and activities.

Therefore, UNESCO and APCEIU are developing an online training workshop based on the guidebook to showcase a model of 'GCED: Taking It Local' to empower learners, teachers, practitioners to become facilitators/influencers for the larger community. One consultant (senior-level) will be hired to conduct this workshop on GCED Taking It Local, as well as to develop a final report for the workshop.
