Manufacturing Excellence Engineer

Overview

Support engineering and manufacturing methods for all production management in Asia and inform the regional process for Manufacturing Excellence

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to suppliers for manufacturing and new product development, focusing on engineering, manufacturing, cost, and design aesthetic needs.
• Enable increased vendor capabilities by advising on new and difficult finishing techniques and mechanisms.
• Work proactively to understand manufacturers’ production processes and direct on ways to improve, recommending any tooling to improve on efficiencies.
• Proactively address QC issues in manufacturing.
• Review and approve Mechanicals as needed with special attention to approach, production efficiency and assembly and finishing instructions.
• Support validation of models.
• Assist vendors with engineering issues as needed.
• Partner with the NY office to support Product Development, Production, QC, R&D and Manufacturing Excellence initiatives to support high quality production at lowest cost.
• Ensure “Best Practices” from the Manufacturing Excellence Manual are followed.  As new approaches are revealed, submit for evaluation. 
• Communicate across geographies (US, China, India, Vietnam) and teams to ensure knowledge sharing between all suppliers.
• Provide clear and concise written communication and documentation.
• Support technical on-boarding of new suppliers.

Qualifications

• Jewelry Assembly experience in Sterling Silver and Gold Alloys.
• Knowledge of Jewelry Casting and equipment including rubber mold and wax production.
• Experience with multiple finishing techniques such as Oxidation on Silver, Satin, Burnished and Mechanical Finishing.
• Understanding of CAD and Rapid Prototyping.
• Understanding of jewelry mechanisms such as clasps, hinges and springs.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems at every stage of the jewelry manufacturing process.
• Good communication skills (English proficient; Thai verbal recommended).
• Computer Skills: Cad experience with Rhino preferred, Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of mechanical drawing software and/or Adobe Photo Deluxe helpful. Standard office equipment.
• Regular travel required (local and international).
