Job Summary

The Lead Civil Engineer is responsible for leading civil and structural engineering design, technical review, and verification of civil and structural works for refinery, petrochemical, and energy projects. The role ensures that all engineering deliverables comply with project specifications, international codes and standards, Thai regulations, safety requirements, and company engineering practices.

The Lead Civil Engineer will supervise civil engineering activities and support project execution from concept, FEED, detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning phases, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Civil & Structural Engineering Design and Technical Review

• Lead civil and structural engineering design and technical review for project facilities in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes and standards.
• Review and verify civil and structural design calculations, drawings, and technical documents prepared by internal teams or EPC contractors.
• Ensure structural integrity and constructability of foundations, buildings, structures, and underground facilities.

Structural Design and Analysis

• Review structural design for steel structures, pipe racks, equipment foundations, buildings, and concrete structures.
• Verify structural calculations including load analysis, foundation design, seismic loads, wind loads, and structural stability.
• Ensure compliance with structural design standards and project requirements.

Site Development & Civil Infrastructure

• Lead design and review of site grading, drainage systems, roads, paving, underground utilities, and stormwater systems.
• Ensure civil works support plant operations, safety, and long-term reliability.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure proper integration of civil infrastructure with process units and plant facilities.

Engineering Document Review

• Review and verify civil and structural engineering deliverables including Civil and structural drawings, Foundation drawings, Structural steel drawings, Underground utility layouts, Site grading and drainage drawings, Material specifications, Construction method statements, Vendor foundation requirements
• Ensure alignment between civil design, mechanical equipment requirements, and plant operational needs.

Project Engineering Coordination

• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and Instrument engineers to ensure multidisciplinary design integration.
• Provide technical support during design reviews, constructability reviews, and project meetings.
• Support engineering activities during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

Construction and Field Support

• Provide technical support during construction and installation of civil and structural works.
• Review and respond to site technical queries, design changes, and field engineering issues.
• Participate in site inspections, construction reviews, and quality verification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related engineering fields.
• 8–15 years of experience in civil or structural engineering.
• Experience in refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas, or energy industry preferred.
• Experience in EPC projects, plant construction, or major facility modification projects is an advantage.
• Experience in leading engineering teams or coordinating with EPC contractors is preferred.

  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D / SmartPlant / AVEVA E3D
  • STAAD Pro / ETABS / SAP2000 (structural analysis) – preferred
  • Foundation design software – preferred
  • Microsoft Office
