Contract Time

This is a full-time position, 30 hours per week, during term time and school breaks. The regular work schedule is Monday to Saturday, with additional hours required for weekend competitions and events.

Position Outline

The Whole School Head of Aquatics is responsible for the leadership, management, and development of all aquatics programs and services across the school. This includes overseeing the Learn to Swim program, competitive swimming, and other aquatic sports, as well as managing the pool facilities and staff.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the whole school's aquatics programmes and services.
  • Supervising the daily operations of Bangkok Prep pool facilities, staff, supplies, and equipment in line with the PSOP and appropriate risk assessments.
  • Ensuring the quality and related safety of the programmes (before, during, and after school).
  • Administering, supervising, and promoting Bangkok Prep Bulldog swimming programme.
  • Communicating with Bangkok Prep Swim Team, school staff, and community.
  • Appropriately uses the school's social media channels to celebrate and raise the profile of their sport and the student athletes competing in their sport.
  • Oversee all squads from Learn 2 Swim under the philosophy of participation, pathways and performance.
  • Model excellent assessment and data collection, with use of technology, to allow performance analysis and tracking for individuals and groups as appropriate.
  • Programme all Learn 2 Swim, training and competitions by utilising both Primary and Secondary Swimming Pools and staff.
  • Develop whole school relationships with students, staff and parents to create a positive culture which retains all students in the programme from Learn 2 Swim to National swimmers, EYFS to Year 13 swimmers.
  • Collaborate with external partners to ensure swimmers have an appropriate provision based on their ability, however, retain them to represent school and be leaders in training sessions.
  • As a Head Coach, lead the Primary and Secondary Head of Aquatics to deliver outstanding CPD to their teams to drive professional improvement.
  • Lead the team to plan and deliver our four showcase Swim Meets each year: Puppy Dash, Puppy Cup, Bulldog Dash and Bulldog Cup.
  • Oversee other Aquatic sports such as Water Polo and Triathlon.


Key Qualifications/Experience:

  • Level 2 Teaching/Coaching Certificate e.g. SCA, ASA, Silver Australia Coaching Licence or Physical


Education degree.

  • Must be certified with basic lifeguard qualifications or equivalent from home country or place of record.
  • Must have previous experience in a management or leadership position at a similar aquatic facility and programme.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in swimming teaching/coaching with children from 3-18 years old.
  • An excellent understanding of the Learn 2 Swim model as a pathway to competitive squads.
  • An excellent understanding of competitive swim squad planning, delivery, analysis and assessment.
  • Team player that has exceptional leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a large, multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience within an international school setting will be advantageous.
  • The ability to use Team Unify and Meet Manager would be an advantage,

Duties and

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding Aquatic sessions that inspire all students and coaches in the team to improve.
  • Create a positive culture and outstanding learning environment where every student is valued and supported in developing.
  • Direct and supervise Bangkok Prep Aquatic programmes which includes, but not limited to, Swimming, Water Polo and Triathlon and the management, leadership and organisation of the Learn 2 Swim programme.
  • Assist with the coordination, development, application, and evaluation of Bangkok Prep curricular swimming programmes.
  • Oversee the overall scheduling of the aquatic programmes and services, in cooperation with the Director of Sport, to ensure the very best opportunities are delivered to students with a focus on Participation, Pathways and Performance.
  • Oversee and deliver Aquatic training sessions during non-term time Sport Camps.
  • Uphold the school's membership as a Swimming Club with TSA in order for our students to represent Bangkok Prep at Thailand National Swimming events.
  • Prepare a pool calendar for extra-curricular activities.
  • Raise the profile and capacity of the Bangkok Prep Aquatics programme by hosting a calendar of international competition for development and performance swimmers.
  • Raise the profile of Bangkok Prep Aquatics programme through reports, adverts and celebratory posts in community communications and the official School Sport social media platforms.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of advanced aquatic technologies, including electronic timing systems (Colorado/Swiss Timing), underwater filming for stroke analysis, and digital performance tracking boards.
  • Be able to use Meet Manager and co-ordinate with the events department hosting large scale competitions.
  • To be proactive in leading Aquatics development and opportunities in collaboration with the Head of Primary and Secondary Aquatics within British International Schools Association (BISA) and work collaboratively with other Heads of Aquatics.
  • Be responsible for writing policies and procedures, including the PSOP, that relate to the swimming pool and the swimming programme in conjunction and the dissemination of this information.
  • Conduct lessons and swim team training in a safe and friendly environment.
  • Administer any first aid needed due to any accident and follows Bangkok Prep procedure for follow-up.
  • Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility.
  • Take responsibility for the supervision of day-to-day operations of the swimming pool including monitoring the maintenance, security and safety of the overall pool environment and staff working in the swimming pool.
  • Take responsibility for the procedures on opening and closing of the swimming pool.
  • Be responsible for ordering of equipment and Swim Meet specific needs that reflect Aquatic or PE requirements.
  • Be responsible for managing the team kit with local suppliers and potential sponsors.
  • Communicate with other international schools in the region for hosted and away swim meets.
  • Communicate and liaise regularly with swim team parent committee members to help inform the swimming community of important updates and results.
  • Communicate with swim meet team parents on their involvement in events.
  • Communicate with the Event Team and C&D Team at Bangkok Prep regarding schedules, results, awards etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
