Job Description Design and Implement Backup Strategies Identify critical data assets and determine appropriate backup frequency (daily, weekly, etc.). Select optimal backup methods (onsite, offsite, cloud-based) based on data sensitivity and recovery needs. Implement data redundancy measures to minimize data loss risks. Test and Validate Backups Conduct regular testing of backup systems and procedures. Verify the integrity and consistency of backed-up data. Practice data recovery processes to ensure successful restoration in case of incidents. Develop and Maintain Data Recovery Plans (DRPs) Create detailed DRPs outlining steps for data recovery following cyberattacks or breaches. Assign roles and responsibilities for each step of the recovery process. Establish clear communication protocols for incident response. Define data recovery priorities and the sequence of actions to restore functionality. Integrate with Incident Response (IR) Plan Ensure data backup and recovery processes are seamlessly integrated with the organization's broader IR plan. Define escalation procedures for notifying relevant teams upon incident detection. Facilitate coordination between IT, security, and management during incident response. Manage Data Retention Policies Implement data retention policies aligned with regulatory requirements. Define retention periods for different data types to optimize storage efficiency. Ensure compliance with legal and industry-specific data retention mandates. Continuous Improvement and Monitoring Regularly monitor data backup processes for performance and potential issues. Conduct periodic audits to assess the effectiveness of backup and recovery strategies. Utilize lessons learned from incidents and simulations to refine procedures and strengthen data resilience.

Experience 5 years+ in IT with focus on data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning Experience in healthcare or regulated industries such as Banking, Insurance, Telco (advantageous) Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related IT field (preferred) Advanced certifications in cybersecurity, data management, PDPA knowledge and backup/recovery (highly desirable)
