Job Summary

The Executive, Cost Analytics is responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and analyzing company expenditures and operational costs. This role focuses on identifying cost-saving opportunities, performing variance analysis, and providing actionable financial insights to support strategic decision-making and maximize corporate profitability.

Job Description

  • Institutional Cost Analytics: Collect, consolidate, and analyze operational and financial data (e.g., facility management, logistics, human resources, and project-based expenditures) to assess the Directorate's overall spending efficiency.
  • Budgetary Control & Variance Monitoring: Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actual expenditures against approved Directorate budgets. Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes of overruns, and proactively alert senior management.
  • Operational Optimization Support: Collaborate closely with the Operations and Management arms of DOFM to evaluate operational bottlenecks, analyze vendor performance, and propose data-backed cost-saving or cost-avoidance initiatives.
  • Financial Forecasting & Modeling: Assist in developing the Directorate's annual operating budgets and mid-term financial frameworks. Build predictive models to forecast future operational costs based on changing programmatic needs.
  • Compliance & Governance: Review cost-tracking systems to ensure all expenditures align with internal corporate governance policies, external regulatory requirements, and donor/grant allocation rules where applicable.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Design and maintain institutional dashboards and cost reports that simplify complex financial metrics for non-finance operational leads and executive directors.


Key Qualification

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public/Business Administration, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in cost analysis, public/institutional finance, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), or operations finance.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, Power Query) for complex data manipulation.
  • Practical experience using enterprise-grade ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) and public-sector budgeting modules.
  • Proficiency in data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau is highly desirable.
  • Soft Skills: Superior analytical skills, keen attention to detail, strong ethical judgment, and the ability to effectively communicate financial realities to diverse operational teams.
