Overseas Sourcing / Purchasing (Chinese)
Position Overview
The Overseas Sourcing / Purchasing (Chinese) role is responsible for managing the sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationships with Chinese vendors to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality goods at competitive prices. This position requires strong negotiation skills, fluency in Chinese (Mandarin), and a deep understanding of international trade and supply chain processes.
Job Description:
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers in China for raw materials, components, or finished goods.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with Chinese suppliers to achieve cost efficiency and quality standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., product development, production, and quality control) to align sourcing strategies with business needs.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and geopolitical factors affecting supply chains in China.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export requirements, and company policies.
- Manage purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve issues related to delivery delays or quality discrepancies.
- Conduct regular supplier audits and visits to China to maintain strong partnerships and verify compliance with standards.
- Prepare reports on sourcing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for management review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, or procurement, with a focus on Chinese markets.
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken).
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships in China.
- Strong understanding of international trade, logistics, and import/export regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel to China as needed (approximately 20-30% travel).
