Job Responsibilities
  • Assess hardware and software malfunctions by means of diagnostic tools and customer input.
  • Install and commission new systems/equipment.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machines to repair or replace worn or malfunctioning components and consumables.
  • Drive to customer locations using personal vehicle, managing your own daily route to arrive in a timely manner based on customer location and issue, and maintaining accurate time records.
  • Educate and train customers on basic systems/equipment operation, troubleshooting skills and easy fixes.
  • Provide excellent customer service, listening carefully to customer concerns and addressing issues until customer is satisfied
  • Update and maintain systems/equipment per specifications
  • Maintain parts inventory, company-assigned laptop and tools.
  • Attend assigned training courses sponsored by company to stay up-to-date on the latest technology and repair options

Job Skills & Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's engineering degree; or 6 years and an advanced degree or equivalent work experience
  • Hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating complex analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB or similar Cryo EM experience will be an advantage
  • Three or more years in a customer-facing role
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Understanding of tools and technology needed to complete repairs
