Visual Merchandiser

atOwndays Co., Ltd.

Job Description

  • Plan and create in-store merchandising displays — new product launches, promotions/campaigns, store re-merchandising and special events — covering both OWNDAYS as appropriate.
  • Produce localised Visual Merchandise by adapting global/regional guidelines to local store conditions and customer behaviour.
  • Design displays that not only attract customers but also drive engagement, demand and sales conversion — including hero tables and dedicated zones for premium lenses.
  • Build contingency layout options to adapt VM to varying store sizes and space limitations (e.g. long/narrow stores).
  • Manage store-opening VM end to end per SOP — layout planning, POP & acrylic ordering, SKU arrangement and shop set-up — completed within the standard timeline.
  • Lead VM for campaigns and marketing projects (e.g. Star Wars, Made in Japan, Pride Month) covering design creation, POP/display ordering and guideline announcement.
  • Manage project timelines proactively and deliver complete work on schedule without requiring deadlines to be imposed.
  • Conduct regular branch visits and coordinate with stores to ensure VM standards are consistently maintained nationwide.
  • Create and announce VM guidelines and track rollout/compliance through the internal communication system (OD-Connect).
  • Run pre-launch quality control on every display — product visibility, prop density and brand-asset placement — to prevent clutter and avoidable execution errors.
  • Coach and mentor store teams to understand and consistently apply the company's "Standardized Look", empowering branches to uphold VM standards independently between visits.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and business partners to procure display-related equipment and materials, ensuring the highest material quality.
  • Manage VM within an agreed budget envelope, balancing creativity against cost and finding effective, value-for-money solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Merchandising, Interior Design, Fashion, Marketing, Design, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in Visual Merchandising within the retail industry. Experience in fashion, eyewear, cosmetics, or lifestyle retail is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of visual merchandising principles, retail space planning, and customer journey design to enhance sales and brand image.
  • Ability to interpret and adapt global/regional VM guidelines to suit local market needs and store conditions.
  • Strong display design skills with the ability to create attractive merchandising displays, POP materials, and product presentations.
  • Experience managing VM projects including new store openings, store re-merchandising, promotional campaigns, and special events.
  • Strong project management, planning, and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
  • Ability to develop flexible merchandising layouts suitable for different store sizes and space limitations.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams, store staff, and external suppliers.
  • Experience coaching and developing store teams to consistently maintain visual merchandising standards.
  • Detail-oriented with strong quality control and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or other design software is an advantage.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for design, retail trends, and delivering innovative customer experiences.
