Athletic Facility and Event Coordinator (AFC)
atBerkeley International SchoolAthletic Facility and Event Coordinator (AFC) will coordinate and manage the athletic-related facilities for Berkeley and support the swimming program as a trained lifeguard. The AFC is supervised by the School Principal.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Be on duty as a lifeguard during secondary swimming sessions. (approximately 6-10 hours per week)
- Coordinate facility rental to include contract generation, usage monitoring, and payment coordination with the finance department.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and appropriate correspondence with any government agencies in charge of pool or gym inspection.
- Supervise school utilization of the athletic facilities, including the calendaring of all AISAA and Berkeley sports, and all Berkeley rentals.
- Coordinate master athletic calendar with direction from the Athletic Director.
- Review and recommend changes, repairs and improvement of athletic equipment and facilities.
- Check firsthand the rented facilities after use (first work day following rental)
- Arrange for athletic events, including set up, buses, water, referees, cleaning and maintenance, snacks and lunch (if applicable)
- Assist in the development and design of the athletic department website with direction from the Athletic Director.
- Work effectively with colleagues and students by practicing punctuality, respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication.
- Dress appropriately for a workplace. The school will provide athletic style clothing and swimsuit that can be worn for the majority of the work schedule.
- Supervise cleaning staff and cleaning schedule for athletic areas.
- Monitor maintenance staff responsible for cleaning the swimming pool and maintaining the pool chemicals, including random checks of pool chemicals to be completed by AFC.
- QUALIFICATIONS MANDATORY:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Must live within 30 minutes of Berkeley.
- Must be prepared to work under a flex-schedule. For example, on weekends during a tournament, the AFC should be prepared to revise their schedule to be off during the week in order to be present for weekend athletic events.
- SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATE:
- CPR Training Certificate (cost to be borne by Berkeley)
- Lifeguard and Pool Safety Certification (cost to be borne by Berkeley)
- Valid driver's license
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Daily exposure to the elements in the role of a lifeguard
- Must be suitably fit to provide life-saving support if necessary
- May be asked to provide support with pool equipment such as lane ropes or teaching devices.
