Market Development Agronomist


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute field scale testing programs
  • Programs include field testing of Bayer seed products/ CP products of post dossier submission and Ground Breaker trials for new product launches from all platforms with retails/growers to plant trials, collect required data, maintain trials as needed, and harvest trials
  • Data management, quality review and timely submission of trial results.
  • Work with sales/ customer marketing to categorize and validate key product features and benefits for support material
  • Technical support and training for strategic retail partners and Bayer sales team
  • Work with Bayer sales team to achieve local business objectives through technical support and training. Retail support provided strategically based on business priorities
  • In-field and classroom agronomic training for key retails and Sales team.
  • Support sales for grower demand events and other face-to-face promotional activities for newly launched products
  • Support Territory Sales Managers with in-field diagnostic service for seed and crop protection product performance inquires requiring technical analysis
  • Provide technical information with seed, trait, and chemistry products
  • Communicate agronomic position of seed products, benefits of trait products and benefits and uses of chemistry products
  • Ensure new technologies have proper profile with key growers and retail
  • Understand technical position of Bayer products compared to competitors
  • Sales and business support
  • Create annual Agronomy business plan for communication/alignment with sales team on activities to prioritize to support success of business
  • Position and support Bayer Seed, Traits, Crop Protection, Biologics, and application technologies to deliver Tailored Agronomic Solutions with sales and retail to meet or exceed territory targets
  • Deployment of learning centers to promote relevant product brands in context of end to end tailored solutions
  • Support crop protection management strategy and other stewardship initiatives for seed, trait, and crop protection products
  • Communicate position of resistance strategies and other stewardship initiatives
  • Provide technical support and training for crop protection management strategies and other stewardship initiatives as needed
  • Build profile as technical expert in territory
  • Build presence with key growers, retails, and public extension officers
  • Participate in industry events and organizations where appropriate
  • Compliant with Bayer safety, driving policies and manage summer students
  • Complete safety and driving training as required
  • Report injuries and accidents as required
  • Coordinate and participate in required safety meetings
  • Support safety initiatives at trail sites and locations
  • Support internship if applicable

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Agriculture or related discipline with up to 3 years of Agronomy, field development or R&D related experience
  • Understands basics of crop production, agronomy, and Bayer portfolio for key targeted crops
  • Organize and execute a commercial trial program, familiar with IT system for data management
  • Understands territory sales targets, business needs and familiar with key internal sales and MD team and aware of key retail partners
  • High agronomy technical knowledge, Analytical skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Crop Protection Industry and Seed Business
  • Advanced computer and database skills including Apollo and or other MD data analysis platforms
  • Excellent relationship and team skills
  • Excellent organization and time management
  • Strategic view of regional issues and understanding of implications of actions on the achievement of BCS short term and long-term objectives.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skill set
  • Proactively lead technical training to BCS and external staff
  • Problem solving through analytical thinking and judgments in complex situations with little guidance
  • Regular contact and influence on key influencers in territory (agronomists, provincial specialists etc.)
