Consultant (Drafting of a study on financial investigations in Southeast Asian and Pacific countries)

Expected duration50 (fifty) working days within 15 February - 30 April 2022
Duties and ResponsibilitiesA) Drafting of a study on financial investigations in Southeast Asian and Pacific countries. This will entail:
Consultations with UNODC staff and Southeast Asian and Pacific countries' counterparts (including in-person travel or videoconference calls as required);
- Analysis (including a needs and gaps assessment) of the current legal frameworks, stakeholders and practices in Southeast Asian and Pacific countries with regard to financial investigations, including investigations for the purposes of identifying proceeds for extended confiscation or forfeiture;
- Recommendations to enhance financial investigations and related legislation in Southeast Asian and Pacific countries;
- Regular coordination with UNODC staff in charge of the project;
- Attention to spelling, appropriate and consistent use of terminology (including legal terminology and gender-inclusive language) in line with UN instruments such as the relevant conventions and protocols (guidance will be provided as necessary by UNODC officers);
- Ensuring confidentiality of the documents and information shared.
Experience: • A minimum of 10 years of experience in fields related to financial investigations is required.
- Work experience at the international level is desirable.
- Work experience related to combating transnational organized crime and/or corruption in Southeast Asia and the Pacific is desirable.
