Performance Engineer (Power Generation)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze overall plant performance, efficiency, and heat rate of the combined cycle, thermal power plant and renewable plant.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate performance of major equipment including Gas Turbines (GT), Steam Turbines (ST), HRSG/Boiler, Condenser, and Auxiliary Systems. Analyze operational data to identify deviations, diagnose causes of performance loss, degradation and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements

  • Conduct performance test and verification in accordance with design specifications, OEM guidelines, and contractual guarantees align with standard performance test code (PTC).
  • Provide expert recommendations on plant performance, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting and support for troubleshooting complex operational issues and during the planning of maintenance and outages.
  • Develop and maintain performance monitoring tools, Machine Learning, AI-integrated tasks, power plant KPIs, and periodic performance reports.
  • Evaluation of technical and financial aspects for implementation of new technologies and system upgrades aimed at enhancing plant performance and reducing emissions.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and third-party vendors for performance assessment and optimization activities.
  • Ensure plant performance complies with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Support various management decision making tasks as technical advisor.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Performance Engineer / Efficiency Engineer or in a similar role within a gas combined cycle or thermal power plant environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of power plant thermodynamics, heat and mass balance, performance correction calculations and utilize thermodynamic models for the combined cycle and thermal plants to simulate and predict performance under various operating conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, advanced logical thinking, methodically analyzing situations, assessing facts, and effective solutions for complex operational challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (MS Excel, Power BI, Machine Learning or similar tools is an advantage).
  • Familiarity with OEM performance and standards testing procedures (e.g. GT/ST performance curves).
  • Good command of English (minimum TOEIC 750).
  • Goal-Oriented, Unity, Learning, Flexible.
  • AI Utilization skill, AI Literacy and AI-Ready mindset are advantages.
