What Success Looks Like
- Product teams ship faster with fewer frontend regressions and less rework.
- New features follow consistent patterns (data fetching, error handling, authentication/session management, and state management).
- Web performance improves (bundle size, UX latency, and Core Web Vitals where relevant).
- Frontend observability becomes actionable (RUM signals, logging conventions, and useful dashboards).
- A “golden path” developer portal exists—and is actively used.
Responsibilities
Own the Frontend Platform Direction
- Define and socialize architecture standards (module boundaries, app shell patterns, state strategy).
- Establish API and data-layer patterns (fetching, caching, error handling, schema evolution, authentication, and session management).
- Set performance standards (bundle strategy, runtime/rendering performance, UX latency budgets).
- Create practical “guardrails” that enable teams rather than slow them down.
Build Shared Platform Assets
- Build and maintain a component library and design token implementation (your chosen stack, aligned with design).
- Improve tooling and release hygiene (lint rules, code generation, scaffolding, CI improvements).
- Define testing standards (unit, integration, and end-to-end guidance with example coverage).
- Implement frontend observability (logging conventions, RUM, and Web Vitals where relevant).
Build an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) Portal
- Create a lightweight UI hub for golden paths, templates, documentation, and self-serve platform utilities.
- Make onboarding and day-to-day development noticeably smoother.
Drive Adoption (The Real Work)
- Write lightweight RFCs and decision records.
- Deliver “golden paths” and examples that teams can copy, paste, and trust.
- Partner with product teams to migrate incrementally (no big-bang rewrites).
- Reduce organization-wide technical debt by turning repeated pain points into platform solutions.
- Strong frontend fundamentals with real production experience.
- Experience designing and operating frontend architecture across multiple teams or within a large, evolving codebase.
- Strong systems thinking: You can clearly articulate trade-offs and long-term impacts.
- Strong communication and influence skills: You can align people without relying on authority.
- TypeScript expertise; experience with modern frameworks (React, Next.js, Svelte, or equivalent).
- Full-stack experience (BFF patterns, API design, caching strategies, schema evolution).
- Experience building internal platforms or developer tooling (DX-first mindset).
