- Design and develop food processing systems, equipment, and processes that comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new food engineering projects and process improvements.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for manufacturing and installation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and project management to ensure successful project delivery.
- Optimise existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Perform calculations and simulations to validate design concepts and ensure operational safety and performance.
- Conduct or supervise testing and commissioning of food processing equipment and systems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and design teams.
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure quality standards and timely delivery of components and services.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- What we're looking for.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in food engineering, process engineering, or related field.
- Proven expertise in food processing system design, process optimisation, and equipment selection.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, regulations (such as HACCP, GMP), and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and engineering simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions under pressure.
- Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Leadership experience and proven ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
- Familiarity with food industry equipment, technologies, and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
- Professional registration or membership with engineering bodies is advantageous.
