Overview of the job
As a Category Insights Analyst, you will play a crucial role in understanding shopper behavior and translating insights into actionable strategies that drive business growth. Your success will be measured by your ability to analyze data and identify key business drivers, ultimately enhancing our marketing and sales initiatives. You will collaborate closely with a small, dynamic team to ensure that our strategies are effectively tailored to meet the needs of our customers and categories. Your insights will directly contribute to optimizing trade spend and increasing profitability.

Your team
You will report to the Director of Consumer Market Knowledge (CMK) and work within a team of 4 to 6 talented professionals. This team is composed of individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, including data analysis, marketing strategy, and shopper insights. Together, we foster an environment of collaboration and innovation, driving our commitment to understanding consumer behaviors and market dynamics.

How success looks like
  • Demonstrate an analytical mindset by effectively interpreting data and creating basic data models to inform strategic decisions.
  • Apply business thinking to understand how marketing initiatives drive revenue and profitability, using case studies as reference points.
  • Utilize hands-on experience with analytical technologies (e.g., Power BI, KNIME, SQL, Python) to develop and present insights.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, presenting complex data findings clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Identify and recommend key business drivers through KBD modeling and shopper insights analysis, contributing to the overall success of the category.

Job Responsibilities
  • Mine shopper insights to understand in-store shopping behaviors, identifying trial drivers and factors that influence purchase decisions.
  • Define top Key Business Drivers (KBD) through modeling for CVS/MM customers and categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify pricing and promotional opportunities to optimize trade spend and enhance category performance.
  • Reinvent go-to-market (GTM) activity systems, including assortment, margin, and display quantity, tailored to specific channels and customers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement insights and monitor their effectiveness in real-time.

Role Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related fields
  • Must have an analytical mindset with experience in data interpretation, basic data modeling, and proxy data thinking.
  • Strong understanding of business principles, particularly how businesses generate revenue, supported by case study analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with at least two analytical technologies, such as Power BI, KNIME, SQL, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex data insights to diverse audiences.
