About the role
As Accounting Director, you will lead the Accounting Department and take full ownership of the group's accounting operations, monthly closing, statutory compliance and reporting. You will manage a team of approximately 10 people, develop their skills and build a department that is accurate, disciplined and scalable.
You will be the owner of our accounting system (Xero) across all group entities, ensuring every transaction, reconciliation, tax filing and report is complete, accurate and delivered on time.
Your mission is to ensure the company always has accurate and timely accounting information, full compliance with Thai statutory requirements, and an accounting team that performs at a high standard every month.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Department Management
- Lead, manage and develop an Accounting team of approximately 10 people.
- Organize the department, assign responsibilities and ensure clear ownership of every task.
- Set performance expectations, review work quality and provide regular feedback and coaching.
- Train the team on accounting standards, Xero usage, internal procedures and compliance requirements.
- Build a strong bench: identify talent, develop successors and reduce dependency on individuals.
- Manage workload and priorities to ensure deadlines are met without compromising accuracy.
- Create a professional, disciplined and accountable working culture within the department.
Accounting Operations & Monthly Closing
- Own and manage the monthly accounting and closing process across all group entities.
- Lead the monthly closing calendar and ensure all deadlines are met across the Accounting team.
- Review, challenge and validate all accounting information prepared by the team before submission to Management.
- Ensure accurate recording of revenue, cost of sales, payroll, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and depreciation.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash and inter-company transactions.
- Prepare consolidated monthly reports and P&L by company and by restaurant for the Management Team.
- Take full ownership of the preparation, review and completion of the half-year and year-end Financial Statements, ensuring they are accurate, complete and fully compliant with applicable accounting standards.
- Coordinate and lead the entire Financial Statement closing process with external auditors, taking responsibility for the final review and sign-off before submission.
- Continuously improve the month-end and year-end closing process to increase accuracy, efficiency and reporting speed.
Xero System Ownership
You will be the group owner of Xero and are expected to use it at a professional level, not as a basic user.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain and control the chart of accounts across all entities, keeping it consistent and standardized.
- Manage bank feeds, bank reconciliations and clearing of unreconciled items.
- Produce accurate P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow reports directly from Xero.
- Use tracking categories to report by outlet, brand and entity.
- Manage user access, approval workflows and system controls.
- Ensure correct integration between Xero and POS, payroll, inventory and other connected systems.
- Identify and implement Xero improvements to increase accuracy, speed and reporting quality.
- Standardize accounting processes and procedures across all group entities.
- Ensure data quality: no unexplained suspense accounts, no ageing unreconciled balances, no manual workarounds.
Thai Statutory Compliance & Taxation
Take full responsibility for the group's tax and statutory filings in Thailand, ensuring everything is submitted accurately and on time.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor, review and control all monthly withholding tax filings: PND 1, PND 3, PND 53 and PND 54.
- Manage VAT filings (PP 30 and PP 36) and ensure correct input and output VAT treatment.
- Prepare and review annual and half-year corporate income tax filings (PND 50 and PND 51) as well as PND 1 Kor.
- Ensure correct Social Security submissions and payroll-related statutory compliance.
- Ensure withholding tax certificates, tax invoices and supporting documentation are correctly issued, collected and filed.
- Keep the group up to date with changes in Thai Revenue Department regulations and accounting standards.
- Liaise with the Revenue Department, external auditors and tax advisors, and manage any audits or queries.
Banking, Cash & Reconciliation
- Ensure all bank accounts across all entities are fully reconciled every month, without exception.
- Review and control cash, credit card settlements, delivery platform settlements and mall settlements.
- Coordinate with banks on all accounting-related matters, including account openings, online banking, financing facilities, EDC applications and other banking services.
- Control payment runs, approval limits and segregation of duties.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cashflow
- Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Manage weekly cashflow forecasting and monitoring.
- Ensure sufficient cash planning across all entities.
- Ensure budgets are properly loaded, tracked and reported against actuals.
- Identify financial risks before they become issues.
Accounting Control & Risk Management
- Strengthen internal controls across all accounting processes.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance across all entities.
- Review accounting work and challenge inconsistencies before reporting.
- Monitor risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure accounting deadlines and reporting calendars are respected.
- Protect the company against fraud, error and non-compliance.
Compliance & Corporate Administration
Support and oversee the group's administration by ensuring all corporate documentation and statutory obligations are properly managed.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure all company licenses, permits, registrations and statutory documents are maintained, renewed and kept up to date.
- Monitor key corporate agreements, lease agreements, contracts and other important legal documents to ensure proper follow-up and compliance.
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal advisors, banks and government authorities when required.
- Maintain a well-organized accounting and corporate documentation system to support compliance, audits and business operations.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPD license is required.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, including proven experience in a leadership or management role.
- Professional, hands-on proficiency with Xero is essential (chart of accounts, bank reconciliations, multi-entity reporting, tracking categories, integrations).
- Able to identify and implement Xero improvements and to standardize accounting processes across all group entities.
- Strong knowledge of Thai taxation and statutory filings: PND 1, PND 1 Kor, PND 3, PND 53, PND 54, PP 30, PP 36, PND 50, PND 51 and Social Security.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to report and present directly to Management.
- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop a team of around 10 people.
