We are building a fast-evolving business application. You will be the technical and product reference for the team: translating business needs into a roadmap, safeguarding the technical quality of the solution (architecture, security, performance, testing), and ensuring reliability in production. You act as a key interface between the development team, infrastructure, and end users.

Product & Roadmap (Product Owner)

• Gather needs from management and users, prioritise them, and build/maintain the product roadmap.

• Write and arbitrate the backlog; facilitate scoping and refinement rituals.

Engineering & Architecture

• Design and evolve the software architecture with security, performance, and scalability by design.

• Establish and uphold DevOps practices: CI/CD, automation, observability.

• Drive cloud hosting choices, prioritising a PaaS model.

• Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, AI code assistants) to boost the team's productivity and code quality, while keeping the team in control of design and review.

• Set and enforce development standards; mentor the junior developer (code reviews, pairing).

Testing & Quality — core responsibility

• Define and own the test strategy across the stack: unit, integration, end-to-end, and non-regression tests.

• Embed automated testing into the CI/CD pipeline as a quality gate — no release without green tests.

• Champion test-driven habits and meaningful coverage (focus on critical paths and business logic, not vanity metrics).

• Introduce performance, load, and security testing where the application's risk profile requires it.

• Make testing a shared team discipline: coach the senior and junior developers on writing maintainable, valuable tests.

Delivery & Organisation

• Plan, track progress, and honour commitments (deadlines, quality).

• Ensure smooth, constructive communication with the infrastructure teams.

Run & Production

• Drive operational maintenance and production incident management.

• Set up service-quality monitoring (availability, performance) and feed lessons learned back into the test suite.

Required Profile

• Proven experience in business-application development (5+ years) with genuine technical seniority.

• Strong command of software architecture, application security, and performance/scalability concerns.

• Demonstrated testing culture: comfortable designing test strategies and automating them in CI/CD.

• Solid DevOps (CI/CD) and cloud PaaS foundations.

• Hands-on experience leveraging AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development without compromising quality.

• Proven ability to engage with users and management (Product Owner posture).

• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in a dev/infrastructure collaboration context.

• Strong sense of organisation, follow-through, and commitment-keeping.
