The

Medical Director

is responsible for the strategic leadership, business and resource planning, team management, and overall performance of the Medical Affairs function in Thailand for

OBU, Rare Diseases, and Diagnostics.

The role focuses on maximizing business opportunities, mitigating risks, and strengthening AstraZeneca's scientific leadership through trusted partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, Key External Experts (KEEs), clinical experts, and regulatory authorities.

The role also leads the Nominated Signatory function for the review of country activities and promotional materials, and oversees Medical Information, Patient Safety, and Pharmacovigilance within the market.

Typical Accountabilities:

Senior leader accountable for the development of the complete strategy for the Medical Affairs area(s) in line with the global/regional/area/local strategy and objectives.

Ensures that the strategy is cascaded throughout the function and operational plans and individual objectives are established.

Acts as the expert in the Medical Affairs subject area, both internally and externally, with knowledge that spans the complete function.

Responsible for ongoing management of the function, ensuring performance is achieved against goals and resources are managed effectively to deliver business outcomes.

Impact directly on the functional area through the results achieved by the department through the achievement of strategic objectives.

Oversees the development of optimal registration plans (registration of new products, line extensions, and addition of new indications), in conjunction with regulations and AstraZeneca policy, to support the achievements of AstraZeneca's strategic objectives.

Ensures that tactical leadership decisions are enforced in order for the business to achieve its objectives.

Coaches and delivers effect performance to direct and indirect reports creating a supportive work environment where everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Determines resource needs and manages budget.

Ensures that all Medical Affairs initiatives and activities comply with regulations and AstraZeneca policy.

Communicate with Key External Experts (KEEs), prominent academic and clinical investigators, and leaders of the medical community who are willing to assist in the evaluation of AstraZeneca products in line with company's/brand team objectives.

Work with brand teams to provide clinical expertise/input into strategic and tactical decisions in support of AstraZeneca products.

Represent AstraZeneca at national meetings and national organizations related to Medical Affairs area(s) and is a spokesperson for the company's medical affairs-related issues.

Qualifications:

Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required, with preference for

MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc Pharmacy, or equivalent

Extensive senior-level experience in

Medical Affairs

within the pharmaceutical industry, including strategic leadership at country or regional level.

Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams and shaping Medical Affairs strategy across complex or specialty portfolios.

Strong external credibility with

KEEs, healthcare professionals, academic leaders, and regulatory stakeholders

Deep understanding of

medical governance, compliance, pharmacovigilance, patient safety

, and local regulatory frameworks.

Experience in promotional material review and

Nominated Signatory

accountability is strongly preferred.

Strong business acumen, strategic planning capability, and experience managing budgets and organizational resources.

Excellent leadership, influencing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Fluency in

Thai and English
