The contractor is expected to deliver below outputs: a. Support the preparation of trade briefs b. Provide drafting inputs required for knowledge products c. Support delivery of training materials developed under the projects f. Support preparation of the project’s termination report and evaluation g. Conduct research for potentially developing nowcasting techniques to support the analysis on trade and value chain integration h. Conduct research for a potentially extended feature of the existing value chain integration tool to support impact analysis i. Conduct research for potentially integrating automated features to the digital integration tool j. Duties and Responsibilities

Purpose: The contractor will support the implementation of a project titled "Enhancing Regional and Global Value Chain Participation of Central Asian Countries to Support Sustainable Development in the Digital Era," which is funded by the Russian Federation. The contractor will also provide support to implement Capacity Building on Trade Facilitation and the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) Promotion to Strengthen Intra-regional Cooperation. Objective: Under the direct supervision and guidance of the officers in charge of the project, the general guidance of the Chief of Trade Policy and Facilitation Section, and the overall supervision of the Director of the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division, the contractor will work with the project team to support the delivery of several activities in relation to the implementation of the project.

Qualifications/special skills

Master degree (or higher) in economics, international economics and/or development economics is required Having some academic or research experience in economics and development. Having at least three years of experience in data analysis, programming, and database management for economic and trade policy research of Asian countries Good data-analysis skills. Proficiency in excel, coding and programming for data analysis using R and/or Python.

Languages

Good English Skills Having some familiarity with ESCAP publications and UN editorial style is an asset.
