Function : Investment Strategy / Investment Strategist – AI & Markets

Role Summary

We are looking for an investment professional who lives and breathes markets - and who is genuinely excited to use AI and software to do the job better. This is an investment role first: your career is in asset allocation, market research, and portfolio strategy, and you will sit at the centre of the CIO team’s research and house-view process. What sets this role apart is the mandate to build. You will design and ship AI-driven tools — research copilots, automated data pipelines, signal dashboards, and LLM workflows — that make the whole team faster and sharper. The ideal candidate is a hybrid: an investment-literate strategist with real, hands-on software development skills, who can move from a markets debate in the morning to writing code that automates the analysis in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities

Investment & Strategy (core)

1. Market coverage: monitoring cross-asset markets (equities, rates, FX, credit, commodities) and translating moves into a clear house view.
2. Asset allocation: contributing to asset allocation decisions, tactical tilts, and the CIO’s strategy framework.
3. Research output: producing daily, weekly, and thematic research notes for internal stakeholders and clients.
4. Investment committee: preparing materials and talking points for investment committees and client-facing forums.

AI & Software Development (differentiator)

1. AI tooling: design, build, and maintain internal tools — research copilots, summarisers, and chat-based assistants over the team’s data.
2. Software development: write clean, production-quality code (Python preferred) for data ingestion, market-data pipelines, and analytics.
3. Automation: automate recurring research workflows — morning notes, data pulls, charting, and report generation.
4. LLM integration: integrate LLM APIs and prompt workflows into the team’s daily process, with attention to accuracy, cost, and controls.
5. Data engineering: connect Bloomberg / market-data sources, internal databases, and spreadsheets into reliable, reusable pipelines.

Required Qualifications

• Investment career: 3–6 years in investment management, sell-side / buy-side research, multiasset strategy, or a comparable markets role.
• Markets knowledge: strong grasp of asset classes, valuation, macro, and portfolio construction — you can hold your own in a markets debate.
• Software dev skills: hands-on coding ability, especially Python (pandas, APIs); comfortable building scripts and small applications end-to-end.
• AI fluency: practical experience using LLMs / AI tools, and a clear sense of where they add value and where they don’t.
• Education: Bachelor’s in finance, economics, engineering, computer science, or a quantitative field.
• Communication: clear, concise writing and the ability to turn analysis into a story decisionmakers can act on.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Credentials: CFA charter or progress toward it.
• Engineering depth: experience with SQL, Git, cloud services, or building/deploying small web apps and dashboards.
• Quant exposure: familiarity with quantitative methods, backtesting, or signal research.
• Language: Thai–English bilingual ability for local client and stakeholder work. What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)
• By month 3: trusted contributor to the house view, owning part of the regular research output.
• By month 6: shipped at least one AI/automation tool that saves the team meaningful time each week.
• By month 12: recognised as the go-to person bridging investment strategy and AI tooling for the CIO office.
