Key Responsibilities: The Lifeguard reports directly to Aquatics Director having key duties as follows

• open the swimming pools and check areas to ensure they are safe and clean for use, including changing rooms;
• ensure necessary resources are available and in good working order;
• return resources and secure in designated storage area after lessons as appropriate;
• enforce the rules of the swimming pool and the lifeguarding policy for all users;
• perform lifeguarding duties according to work rotas being vigilant and responsive at all times;
• assist the aquatics team with other related duties as necessary.

Professional Expectations: The Lifeguard should have the following qualities

• be able to swim 200m in less than 5 minutes
• hold (or have the ability to gain within 6 weeks of employment) a lifesaving qualification
• flexible with the ability to work within a team
• be able to speak / learn some basic English
• be conscientious, efficient and organised
• good-natured, willing to learn and diligent
• enjoy working in a school environment

Child Safeguarding: Shrewsbury International School City Campus is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be required to

• attend in-house Child Safeguarding programmes
• promote and safeguard the welfare of all children in the school
• report to the Child Protection Officer any concerns they have for the welfare of a child. This may include unsafe practices witnessed within the school as outlined in the school's Whistleblowing Policy
• keep professional relationships with children where personal boundaries are respected and maintained
• seek advice from a Line Manager or Child Protection Officer with issues or concerns related to Child Safeguarding.

• Satisfactory references
• Verification of qualifications and work experience
