The Design Manager Project (DMP) makes the bridge between the Central Design Team and the Site project team. The DMP is responsible to lead and manage the design process from IR 2 approval up to 3 months after project completion. The primary role of the DMP is to safeguard that the original architectural design is well implemented when it is translated into the executive project and that the synergies between the different retail and building components as per IKEA and local requirements are being maximized (Design Development and Technical Design phases)

• Lead & Manage Design Process from IR2 to Project Completion
• Lead interface between Design & Establishment and the PMC and/or external design consultants
• Support interface with local authorities on architectural code compliance.
• Secure the IKEA store architecture will adhere to current legislations, standards & codes of practice, safeguarding that the original design concept is protected
• Oversee quality control check during execution according to IKEA standards.
• Report to Design Manager SEA and Development Project Manager (matrix)

• Comprehensive Retail & Commercial Architectural Background. Preference for relevant work in large-scale architectural project developments
• Strong management and leadership skills (leadership by example)
• Design Manager capabilities such as procure and manage design consultants, specifications, room book and manage contractors, secure alignment between IKEA stakeholders, etc.
• Adept knowledge in architectural detailing, tendering process and construction phase management
• In-depth knowledge of Retail design typologies, feasibility requirements, constraints, and brief development
• Practical useable knowledge of architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) related software
• Excellent planning, organisational, co-ordination and communication skills.
