Job Purpose

Engineer, Mechanical & Piping is responsible for mechanical and piping design of assigned wellhead platform construction campaign including basic and detail engineering, procurement package and strategy, fabrication, installation, and commissioning. The job holder reviews, comments, provides engineering guidance and approval of engineering deliverables of contractors and ensuring completeness of as-built drawings and documents. Interface with all other engineering disciplines and project personnel to get required inputs and provide feedback to other disciplines for completeness and correctness of mechanical & piping designs. He/She shall ensure that all tasks are executed in accordance with the project strategies, project specifications & procedures, SSHE requirements, and within timeframe while maintaining the highest work quality level.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for mechanical and piping design of assigned wellhead platform construction campaign including basic and detail engineering, procurement package and strategy, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
• Prepare procurement strategy as well as participate in tendering processes to obtain the most appropriate contractors of responsible package. The work includes review bidder lists, perform pre-qualification evaluation, prepare document related to tender process, review and make recommendation regarding contractor's overall plan and specification, and liaise with procurement, logistic and offshore team regarding material/equipment purchase, transportation, delivery, etc.
• Review, comment, and approve contractor's design and engineering work. Handle and resolve any design and engineering issues arise including engineering cost estimation and problem analysis.
• Monitor and follow up contractor's activities and provide technical support and engineering solutions during construction phase, ensuring that engineering, construction, and installation of responsible package are executed in compliance with quality requirements, specifications and SSHE standard. Initiate and implement corrective actions when the performance of the contractor deviates from what is expected.
• Participate the hook-up and the commissioning work to comply with the specifications, procedures and codes/standards.
• Be representative in technical meeting for facility engineering part to provide advice/ recommendation in own expertise including to any technical review sessions e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, PTR, etc. as a mechanical & piping focal point.
• Well understanding in piping vibration problem and be able to provide technical advice/perform stress analysis for both static and dynamic cases.
• Report the progress of the work to line supervisor. Identify the problem areas and suggest the appropriate solutions/actions to line supervisor as necessary.
• Coach, motivate, and develop the junior professionals and share knowledge to team.
• Promote and ensure an effective implementation of SSHE rules and procedures as well as engineering best practices.

Professional Knowledge & Experiences

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
• Minimum 8 years' experience in engineering design and construction of piping system, mechanical systems and equipment (rotating and static), preferably in the oil and gas or a similar industry.
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Good negotiating and interpersonal skills
• Familiar with design and analysis software for mechanical equipment & piping engineering is preferable i.e. Caesar II, PDMS, PV elite, AutoCAD.
• Familiar and experience in design and construction of booster compressor package, pedestal crane, and pressure vessel is preferable.
• Knowledge and experience in various international codes and standards i.e. ASME, API, BS, IS etc. Especially ASME B31.3 and ASME VIII Div1.
