Role Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To manage and control the settlement team involved in handling Settlement functions with following objectives:

  • Maximizing productivity
  • Ensuring that efficient and good quality is provided to the customers to meet or exceed their expectations.
  • Ensuring that operations are strictly compliance with local laws, regulations and Group Policies
  • Maintaining a good level of control on transactional risk.
  • No failed audits
  • Backup function within a team to ensure the smooth operations.

Summary of Main Tasks

  • Lead and manage the operation of the unit.
  • Manage and control the function of Local Settlement team
  • Ensure that operations are efficiently managed in strict compliance with local laws and regulations and in line with Group Operation Risk Policy
  • Implement IT / IS development and enhancement to meet requirement of securities operations and provide reports to management and Group Network Management / Performance Management / Planning
  • Liaise with SeCCuRe IS to ensure that enhancements are to specification, and are tested before implementation.
  • To act as BCP coordinator and handle other related projects/tasks when required
  • Monitor and control the operation within the unit to ensure that the Bank is not place at risk when in handling transaction and that highest standard of processing is maintained
  • Provide information for risk management report i.e. KCS, KRI , etc and also review other Securities reports for purpose of monitoring and controlling
  • Assist other team members when required
  • Supervise and resolve all enquiries and problems to customers, relationship manager and subordinate.
  • Supervise and manage Local Settlement team to execute all activities promptly by the relevant deadlines and respond to client's instructions and enquiries relating to Local Settlement process.
  • Provide direction and assist to manage Local Settlement team
  • Assist other team members as required.

Interface with Customer / Relationship Managers / Business Unit

  • Ensure the highest levels of customer service and proactively seek improvement as per customers' needs and requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding customers' expectation.
  • Cascade this relationship downward to all subordinates and accounts team.
  • Maintain partnership like relationship with the Business unit / Relationship Managers and be responsive to their service requirements.

Service Standard

  • To review, manage and improve turnaround time of transactions to ensure that the service level meet the target standard at the least.

Service Quality

  • To build up service excellence, customers focus mindset and quality culture in the team.
  • Manage quality of client's reporting and Local Settlement's activities to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • To provide and continuous improvement services related Local Settlement jobs to achieve client's satisfaction.

Productivity Management

  • Ensure Group objectives and instructions are cascaded to team members and feedback is provided to management for overall team effectiveness.
  • Encourage team to propose the idea for improving the current work process and implement for achievement the highest levels of efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Identify system and process improvement of productivity.

People

  • Ensure continuous development of the team to manage and sustain long term viability.

Business direction and market practice

  • Pay attention to changing market condition and practice, give suggestion to Unit Manager / Business units for assisting in Marketing, Operations and business strategy review.

Control and Risk Management

  • Effectively monitor and manage risks and controls of Local Settlement operations, so as to avoid loss to the Bank.
  • Take responsibility for the proper control of safes and keys as laid down in the Group instruction circular.
  • Ensure compliance within the team to Group and Regulatory requirement.
  • To effectively manage the risks so as to protect client's and the Bank's interest.
  • Ensure adherence to SS Operations Manual and understanding of KCSA items pertain to Local Settlement
  • Ensure compliance with sanctions procedure guideline and Anti Money Laundering policy.
  • Act as a Money Laundering Prevention Officer and ensure appropriate internal controls and procedures for Money Laundering prevention are understood, functioning and reported as intended.

Change Management

  • Ensure that system & procedural changes are implemented successfully and update in DOI.
  • Assist in providing support for changes in processes.

Training

  • Attend/complete training as assigned on timely manner.
  • Identify self training needs and inform Unit Manager.
  • Manage the training needs of staff and nominate them to attend training courses relevant to their position, potential, individual inspiration & business short and long term requirements.

Complexity and judgment

  • Prompt decision making to protect client's interests and avoid losses to the Bank.
  • The nature of the business is complex and changing. This requires keeping up to date with market regulation, changes, and practice.

Freedom of decision making

  • Wide powers of decision making are required relative to Local Settlement transactions and business issues.
  • Freedom within approved guideline for authorizing and releasing transaction within approved limits.

  • Related units in Securities Services Operations i.e. Asset Servicing, FX and Payments, Ops Support, Fund Services, Change Management, etc
  • Operational Risks Team
  • Client Services, Business Account Managers, Sales
  • Human Resources
  • Local IT and Business Transformation Team
  • Other related stakeholders within the bank as deemed appropriate

External

  • SET, TSD, TCH, BOT
  • Brokers, custodian banks
  • Global Business Services Chennai
  • Other related external stakeholders as deemed appropriate

  • Embed Here for good and Group's brand and values in Thailand; Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedure

Our Ideal Candidate

Qualifications / experience / education

  • In dept Securities product, operational and general banking operations and through knowledge of operations and rules of local Securities industry.
  • In dept knowledge of risk management and sound knowledge of legal and credit control
  • Tertiary education with minimum of 3 years of banking experience including 3 years in Securities/Cash/FX related industry
  • Proven supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to keep up and handle continuous changing market conditions and operating procedures/environments
  • Wide range of contacts among counterparty banks
  • Understanding of the workings in a computer related work environment
  • Excellent management and communication skills.
  • All round leadership skills.
