As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. In addition to the following responsibilities, you are expected to support engagements, solutioning and campaigns, as well as providing delivery oversight.
Workforce & Talent Strategy
  • Accountable for executing against the Pyramid and Practice Headcount targets by managing costs and maximizing client value.
  • Accountable for hiring talent and determining where to best source skills by executing a hiring plan that takes into account future pipeline and talent needs, executing seamless hiring process and delivering optimal experience for new hires
  • Ensure the execution of the skill sourcing strategy (labor mix) which interlocks with Service Line offering strategies on volume of skill, type of skill, and cost of skill to meet demand and ensure we get ahead of the market for future skills
  • Pro-actively shape a diversified workforce, addressing IBM-wide objectives around diversity and inclusion
Talent Development
  • Drive community participation and engagement for the Practice, fostering a sense of connectedness and energy among practitioners of all bands. Empower the Practice to own culture creation by establishing communication channels, such as Slack, and holding 'all-hands calls'
  • Accountable for progression and performance management, retention and attrition
  • Define the training and development paths for the Practice, in close collaboration with the Service Line Leaders and provide a culture of transparency, feedback and mentorship
  • Ensure that Practitioners are afforded the time to attend training sessions and attain credentials in order to gain industry eminence in and outside of IBM to be a competitive voice in the market
  • Collaborate with HR to identify candidates for skill development via reskilling and upskilling programs
  • Provide oversight for reskilled employees by providing further shadowing and mentoring until they become ready for project deployment
Operational Health and Delivery
  • Accountable for utilization line with Service Line economic model expectations by actively managing the bench to improve low utilization
  • Improve low utilization by helping practitioners get on billable client work by working closely with Workforce Management
  • Ensure that projects be staffed with practitioners that are deployed on right-fit roles that match skill requirements and account/offering needs that meet industry demands
  • Establish excellence in client delivery by investment in continuous improvement programs and solutions from service delivery quality experience
  • Define mechanisms to drive effective adoption of Process, Methods & Tools (PM&T) by improving predictability and quality of client deliverables
Skills and Experience Required:
  • 15 or more years of IT experience with a growth mindset and continuously reinvent oneself
  • Preferably have experience in cloud security solutions
  • Preferably have experience running a practice or competency
  • Well known in the IT industry for the deep technical skills
  • Ability to balance a market-facing/client role and the practice leader role
  • Ability to attract talents into the practice and inspire talents
